Gdansk Shakespeare Festival – STW events in Poland

The Gdansk Shakespeare Festival, taking place from 26th July to 4th August 2019 is once again joining in international cooperation whose aim is to promote mutual European values – by participating in the “Shaking the walls” project.

Festival events comprised as a part of Shaking the Walls project include a presentation of Deutsches Theatre Berlin production “Rom”, directed by Karin Henkel as one of the Main Stage productions. The performance of one of the best European theatres, is commenting on the history of European democracy and thus closely relates to the themes of the project.

Moreover there is a series of presentations within the ShakespeareOFF – alternative current of the festival, showcasing young and promising artists from different countries in a form of a competition.  The Competition theme this year is revolving around the artistic interpretation of walls, physical or metaphorical borders separating people. ShakespeareOFF programme includes performances, monodramas, videoperformance, concerts and happenings.
